The Halloween Spirit (2016) is an ultra-short indie horror film that features Jim McDonough (the guy behind Manicorn) and his son Ben. Produced by Flicker Pictures, it’s a tale of what can happen when you don’t really believe in the scary stories that you tell your kids.

According to director Jeff Palmer,

This was one of those “let’s keep busy and make a movie” productions where I drove down to Jim’s with some props, my camera gear and a vague concept for a Halloween film that we could shoot with him and one of his kids. Shot the bulk of the footage in October last year, did some pick-ups a few months ago, and got a surprise email from a Somerville peer to screen it at a film event this Monday. So far it’s been submitted to a dozen horror and Halloween film festivals. We filmed in Hanson and Somerville MA.
Besides a visit from the Halloween Spirit himself (Rob MacVarish), The Halloween Spirit features smoothly-edited visuals backed by a killer soundtrack. It had its live, public premiere on June 27 (see the image at the top of this post for details). Check out the short below!
