On the Fringe of “Fringe”

Now that it has been a year since the final episode of Fringe aired on Fox — after five seasons and a hundred episodes — I am proud to say that I am at the end of season one. I’m not sure how I overlooked the series while it was on the air, although all the excitement of trying to sell a house in Southern California and move out of state during the so-called “Great Recession” might have had something to do with it.  So I’m watching it now.  Thank goodness that Fringe is currently available on Amazon Instant Video (where it is currently on the Prime list).  And kudos to Alise, who blogs here on WP at It Writes Itself, for suggesting that I check it out.

Alise thought that I would appreciate Fringe because I like Sherlock.  She was right.  There are other favorite series that Fringe reminds me of.  Back when I used to watch TV shows when they were “on the air,” I was a big fan of the X-Files.  There is definitely more than a passing resemblance between the two series.

According to various sources on the interwebs, the plot gets better after season one.  Looks like I will be doing a lot of binge watching soon — before Fringe gets yanked off Amazon Prime.

So what other excellent video series have I missed while living under my rock (where I read books from my growing TBR pile and watch DVDs)?  Do tell — leave me some recommendations in the comments section!
